[News] Ku HyeSun, Jang MiRan receive Ministry Award for ‘Sharing Happiness’

(Seoul YonHap News) Reporter Shin Ho Gyung  Actress Ku HyeSun, formal weight lifter Jang Miran and designer Lee SangBong and more are receiving recognition awards for being leaders in sharing their talents and giving to others from the government.

On June 28th, at SeJong Cultural Center, Department of Health and Human Services recognized these celebrities and others totaling 40 recipients with Award of Ministry at their 2nd Share Happiness event.

Share Happiness project was born in 2011 in order to recognize and award those citizens who have become social role models. So far, Dept of HHS have awarded 378 people.

Ku HyeSun-ssi has donated her voice to such programs as: “Children who live for today” which pointed out the deficiencies in the children’s hospice facilities; “You are my fate” which described the rapport between people and animals. Plus, she also directly gave her skill and time to a TV Hope program, Dream With, where she helped remodel an abandoned school building by working on the wall mural.

Jang Miran has given her talent and time towards the “Sports Mentoring Program” which helps out with the development of amateur players. She also gives towards “Dream Scholarship Prog,” for the children who wants to go into sports fields.

Designer Lie SangBong (He is also a co-ambassador with GHS for the upcoming Biennale Festival in September) has consistently given his talent and time towards many projects: production of London Olympics ping pong players uniform; production of T-shirts for the 2012 Korean Independence Day. Through an organization  called “Drawing Circle”, he annually donates his own designed clothes.

Other award recipients include: hair-stylist Lee YongSa who gave free hair cuts to those who could not afford for the past 18 years; a soldier named Lee ChanWoo who helped people with handicaps since he was a teenager for the last 22 years and for 8 thousand hours; a police officer Yoo GiSun who used his own money to have low-income and elderly citizens take their longevity photographs since 2010.
