Korean actor Lee Min-ho’s agency has released photos from the star’s press call for upcoming Korean-Chinese action film “Bounty Hunters,” in which Lee was recently cast as a main character.
Lee attended the first promotional event for “Bounty Hunters” at the ongoing 18th Shanghai International Film Festival, Sunday, together with Chinese costar Wallace Chung.
“Filming schedules haven’t started yet, but I have prayed to finish shooting without any accidents,” said Lee. The actor also extended condolences for a “recent tragedy” in China, possibly referring to a residential building explosion that killed four in Liaoning province last week.
“I wanted to try a different (film) genre. I was personally interested in a light-hearted, refreshing and thrilling comedy film, but I’m very pleased to meet you all and I will try to help make a good work with (Hong Kong singer-actor) Leslie Cheung,” said Lee. Cheung is also believed to have been cast in the film.
“Bounty Hunters,” directed by Korean director Shin Tae-ra, is working under a budget of 35 billion won ($31 million), funded by investments from Korea, China and Hong Kong.
The film will portray bounty hunters — people hired to catch criminals or fugitives — and will shoot in a number of Asian locations including Korea, China, Malaysia and Thailand.
The female lead will be played by a Chinese actress, who has yet to be announced.
Lee also met retired American boxer Mike Tyson at the promotions during the Shanghai International Film Festival.
